Devizes Marketplace at Christmas

Devizes has a splendid marketplace. Only Richmond in Yorkshire has anything similar. The marketplace grew up in the shadow of the castle, once the mightiest fortress in Christendom. Cromwell demolished the castle, but the marketplace survives. Only on Christmas Day is it empty of cars.
